| Eligibility Criteria
||Open to a junior or senior student with at least one undergraduate semester remaining, who has demonstrated excellence in journalism. Students who have made major contributions of time and effort to the editorial success of a campus publication are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated achievement in the classroom, with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 is required.
| Application Procedure
||Go to the Gold for Blugolds Scholarship Network. Complete the Communication and Journalism Scholarship Application.
| Selection Procedure
||The Communication and Journalism Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.
| Selection Deadline
||Mid to late April.
The chair of the department will send notification to the recipient.
The winner is expected to attend the Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.

||This scholarship was created by Joanne Friedrick, a 1978 journalism graduate. As a student, Joanne was the editor of the Periscope and a member of The Spectator staff.
