Eligibility Criteria

Recipients must be continuing juniors or seniors active in public speaking and oral persuasion and be communication (communication studies or organizational communication), mass communication (advertising or public relations) or journalism, broadcast journalism, or print journalism majors or minors. The applicant also should be one of the following:
1.) a student with a GPA of 3.0 or better, preparing for a career as a high school speech communication teacher planning to teach speech communication classes and/or coach forensics

2.) a student preparing to go to law school, with a GPA of 3.5 or better

3.) a student preparing to do graduate studies in communication, with a least a 3.4 GPA

Selection Procedure The director and assistant director of Forensics will make the selection.
Selection Deadline June 1.

Notification will be made by the director of Forensics to all applicants.

The winners are invited and encouraged to attend the Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.
