| Eligibility Criteria
||This scholarship is available to outstanding incoming students majoring in music, specifically in the three piano majors offered through the Music and Theatre Arts department. These majors are the comprehensive Collaborative Piano major (piano players who work with singers and instrumentalists in a collaborative setting), the comprehensive Piano Pedagogy major (piano players studying to teach piano lessons and/or continue on to graduate school), or the comprehensive Piano Performance major (students seeking to be piano performers or go on to performance graduate school). The recipient is required to remain enrolled full time for the full academic year in which they receive the scholarship.
| Application Procedure
||Go to the Gold for Blugolds Scholarship Network. For first time music students, complete the Music and Theatre Arts Audition Application. For continuing music students, complete the Music and Theatre Arts Scholarship Application.
| Selection Procedure
||Determined by the department of music and theatre arts.
||The recipient of the scholarship will receive official notification from the department of Music and Theatre Arts.
| Special Notes
||Ruth Tobola, a native of Thorp, WI, attended the Teachers Normal School (UW-Eau Claire) for two years and received her teaching certificate in elementary education. Her first teaching assignment was at the Eidsvold School in rutal Stanley, WI. Ruth left teaching to raise her daughter and later returned to the university to work in the Registration Office from which she retired in 1977. Ruth died on October 20, 2016, at the age of 101. Through her estate, Ruth left a bequest to her cousin, Natalie Gisvold, who established this scholarship in memory of Ruth to honor her memory and commemorate her connection to the university.
