Special Notes

This scholarship is given in memory of Jeff Oliphant who died suddenly on August 12, 2005. Jeff was a beloved member of the UW-Eau Claire faculty and pioneered the accredited athletic training major. This scholarship honors his life's work and dedication to athletic training excellence, and is given to a promising athletic training education student who will uphold the standards of professionalism and excellence by which Jeff lived.

Jeff Oliphant was very influential to Andrew Wilhorn, who supports the Jeff Oliphant Athletic Training Scholarship in honor of the life and work of his mentor. Andrew worked as a student athletic trainer under the direction of Jeff Oliphant for four years. He graduated in 1995 as a kinesiology major, then completed his master's degree in Fitness Leadership at East Tennessee State University where he was a graduate assistant in the athletic training department. He has worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota since 1999, and now serves as an anatomy assistant in the department of anatomy.

Andrew and his wife, Melissa, have two sons, Gabriel and Michael. Melissa is a registered nurse at the Mayo Clinic.

Thank You The recipient should send a thank-you letter to Andrew Wilhorn in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.
