Available to either a history or philosophy major. This is a merit-based scholarship for which the recipient should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate active engagement in curricular and co-curricular activities.
The chairs of the history and philosophy & religious studies departments should make sure the scholarship opportunity is announced to their majors by mid-February. Application forms will be made available in the department offices, sent via email, or made available on the department websites. An essay must be submitted that describes the applicant's engagement in curricular and co-curricular activities.
|Application Deadline||Second Friday in March.|
The chair of each department will select up to two finalists from all of the applications received in their department. The College of Arts & Sciences dean's office will be notified of the finalists from each department by April 1st, and a copy of the finalists' application forms are forwarded to the dean's office. A packet of departmental finalists' applications will be sent to each of the Chairs for final ranking. The College of Arts & Sciences Scholarship Committee -- composed of the chairs of the departments involved, and chaired by the dean of Arts & Sciences or the dean's designee -- will meet in early April to select the overall finalist for the award.
|Selection Deadline||Early April. The announcement of the recipient should coincide with Honors Week, when the recipient is recognized at the event of the department of their major.|
|Notification||The dean of the College of Arts & Sciences will notify the recipient by letter and complete and submit a scholarship award form to the Financial Aid office.|
