This scholarship was established in 2009 thanks to a gift from George Badman, who graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a bachelor's degree in education in 1941. George retired from a career with the US Navy in 1981, and resides in Hudson, WI.
His wife, Marie, graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in education in 1962. Before that she received a teacher's training certificate. For 10 years, Marie Badman taught in one-room schools in the towns of Sigel, Goetz and Wheaton. She married in 1941 and left teaching to become a mother and housewife. After getting her BS she taught first grade at the Barstow School in Eau Claire and later taught sixth grade in Baldwin and Hudson. She retired in 1977 after 31 years of teaching and died in 2006.
|Thank You||Thank you notes addressed to Mr. George Badman should be sent to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.|
