Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must be a communication major with an organizational communication emphasis and have financial need. The applicant must participate in an internship, which should be completed within the following year and meet the requirements described in the class description of CJ 498.

Students who are considering applying for this scholarship should first make an appointment with the communication and journalism Internship Coordinator, who will explain the pre-requisites and documents required for the CJ 498 internship. The applicant must complete the internship packet required by the department.

The recipient of this fund will receive $250 prior to beginning the internship, and $250 after completing the required paperwork (e.g., portfolio, journal, etc.) at the internship's conclusion.

Selection Procedure The Communication and Journalism Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.
Selection Deadline Early to mid-April.

The chair of the department will send notification to the recipient.

The winner is expected to attend the Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.

Special Notes William Van Wie graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1995 with a degree in communication and journalism.
