Stephen Koepp Journalism Internship Fund

Eligibility Criteria

Journalism major applicants must show excellent promise and skill as a journalist, including demonstrated ability for a reporting, editing, print broadcast or online journalism career.

Applicant must have made outstanding contributions to on-campus or community journalism, including reporting, editing, print broadcast or online journalism. Applicant must hold high journalistic standards as demonstrated in previous work as a student.

The internship is available to applicants who have at least one semester remaining in achieving their degree and have not previously been selected for the Koepp Internship or the Devroy Fellowship.

Application Procedure Go to the Gold for Blugolds Scholarship Network. Complete the Communication and Journalism Scholarship Application.
Selection Procedure The Communication and Journalism Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.
Selection Deadline Early to mid-April.
Notification

The chair of the department will send notification to the recipient.

The winner is expected to attend the Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.

Special Notes

This award has been made available by Stephen J. Koepp, a 1978 Journalism graduate from UW-Eau Claire who continues to engage in a highly successful career as a journalist with Time Inc. Books. Steve's career spans from reporting for the Waunakee Freeman Newspaper to print journalism as Deputy Managing Editor of Time Inc. and to his current position as Editorial Director of Time Inc. Books composing publications for such brands as Time/Life/People/Fortune. Steve has chosen to make this internship possible in appreciation for his start in journalism studies at UW-Eau Claire and the opportunities made available to him since he was awarded his degree.

Thank You Recipients are expected to write a thank you letter addressed to Steven Koepp and submit it directly to the department of communication and journalism program assistant.
