|Amount||One award of $3,000.|
The purpose of the scholarship is to attract and retain top academic achievers to a teaching career in elementary or secondary education. The scholarship is intended for a student who is a member of the first generation in his/her immediate family to have the opportunity to attend a university.
Available to incoming freshmen through seniors who have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Applicants must give evidence of at least 150 hours of employment over the prior two-year period.
It may be renewable, however a student must re-apply to be considered for a subsequent award.

|Selection Procedure||The Education Scholarship Committee will select the recipient of the scholarship based upon the criteria above.|
|Selection Deadline||On or about April 1.|
|Notification||The office of the associate dean of Education and Human Sciences will notify the recipient by letter. The recipient will be invited to participate in the College of Education and Human Sciences awards ceremony each spring.|
|Thank You||The recipient should send a thank you note to Dr. Jean and Mr. Jerry Strop in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.|
