Applicants must be of junior, senior, or graduate status with acceptance into the College of Education and Human Sciences, or Graduate Studies. Applicants must be making satisfactory progress toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Elementary Education (or equivalent degree) with a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
Student may be full-time or part-time, and must be recommended in writing by at least two faculty members from the Teacher Education Program (at least one from MCEA Program Faculty).
Applicants must also illustrate financial need.

|Selection Procedure||The selection committee shall be composed of three faculty members from the College of Education and Human Sciences, with preference for the associate dean of the School and members of the Elementary Education Department.|
|Selection Deadline||On or about April 1.|
|Notification||The office of the associate dean of Education and Human Sciences will notify the recipient by letter. The recipient will be invited to participate in the College of Education and Human Sciences awards ceremony each spring.|
|Thank You||Recipients are asked to write a letter of thanks to the 'Friends of Juanita Sorenson' and forward it to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.|
