William Mellien Design/Tech Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria Awarded to a theatre major or minor, with a preference to those who have displayed an interest in design or technical theatre.
Application Procedure Go to the Gold for Blugolds Scholarship Network. For first time music students, complete the Music and Theatre Arts Audition Application. For continuing music students, complete the Music and Theatre Arts Scholarship Application.
Selection Procedure The recipient is selected by the theatre arts faculty and staff.
Notification The recipient of the scholarship will receive official notification from the department of Music and Theatre Arts.
Special Notes

Bill Mellien was a faculty member at UW-Eau Claire from 1983 to 2001. He was responsible for the scenic, lighting, and makeup designs as well as technical direction for all productions. Bill taught classes in those areas as well as CADD design and scenic painting. His design for 'The Grapes of Wrath' won an award from the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. He also directed three productions for UWEC Theatre.

Bill is responsible for inspiring a number of students to pursue careers in design and technical theatre both academically and professionally. He resides in Eau Claire with his wife Mollie and now utilizes his theatrical talents to provide passion and creativity at his church.
