| Eligibility Criteria
||Awarded based upon the recommendation by the faculty of the communication and journalism department. Recipient must be a continuing mass communication major with an emphasis in public relations, have junior or senior status during the award year, have demonstrated interest in diversity and an appreciation for differences as shown in completed coursework in cultural diversity courses, demonstrated excellence in public speaking as shown in CJ 202 grades or membership in the Forensics team, etc., successfully completed at least one internship, and have total GPA of 3.34 or higher at time of nomination.
| Application Procedure
||Students do not apply for this award. A recipient is selected based on eligibility criteria and recommendation of communication and journalism faculty.
| Selection Procedure
||The Communication and Journalism Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.
| Selection Deadline
||Early to mid-April.
The chair of the department will send notification to the recipient.
The winner is expected to attend the Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.
| Special Notes
||Dr. Joseph Giordano, associate professor and Honorary Blugold Alumni joined the UW-Eau Claire faculty in 1989, teaching courses in public relations and speech until his death in 2001. He was an active researcher on public relations, communication and organizational culture, organizational identification, and communication and technology.
