Applicants must be of a sophomore or junior standing and have a declared a math major. They must be full-time students (12 or more credits) and have a minimum of a 3.0 overall GPA.
Students in secondary education will be given preference.
Financial need is a consideration for the award.

|Selection Procedure||Recipient must have a demonstrated performance and potential in math education. This may include GPA, career objectives, communication skills, creativity, ingenuity, perseverance, enthusiasm for mathematics and, in particular, math education.|
|Selection Deadline||First week in March.|
|Notification||The recipient of this scholarship will receive a notification letter and will be honored at the Department of Mathematics Graduation and Awards Celebration.|
|Special Notes||Charles E. Brown is a 1939 graduate of Eau Claire State Teachers College. He was a math major and built a career in engineering as a commander with the Navy, and for Rockwell International where he worked with the Apollo and Shuttle programs.|
