Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be of a sophomore or junior standing and have a declared a math major. They must be full-time students (12 or more credits) and have a minimum of a 3.0 overall GPA.

Students in secondary education will be given preference.

Financial need is a consideration for the award.

Selection Procedure Recipient must have a demonstrated performance and potential in math education. This may include GPA, career objectives, communication skills, creativity, ingenuity, perseverance, enthusiasm for mathematics and, in particular, math education.
Selection Deadline First week in March.
Notification The recipient of this scholarship will receive a notification letter and will be honored at the Department of Mathematics Graduation and Awards Celebration.
Special Notes Charles E. Brown is a 1939 graduate of Eau Claire State Teachers College. He was a math major and built a career in engineering as a commander with the Navy, and for Rockwell International where he worked with the Apollo and Shuttle programs.
